Knuckle threats

Round or knuckle threads per DIN 405 use a much smaller thread overlap than trapezoid threads and are much more unsusceptible to dirt. This type of thread is not very often used for drives; however, some customers still have a demand for this type of profile.

The nut of the knuckle thread has a different profile then a spindle thread. The pitch of a knuckle thread is measured in inches. A typical description would be: Rd 20x1/8". This definition refers to a round thread with a nominal diameter of 20 mm and a pitch of 1/8" = 3.175 mm.
